Data analysis has multiple facets and approaches, encompassing diverse techniques under a variety of names, and is used in different business, science, and social science domains. In today&#8217;s business world, data analysis plays a role in making decisions more scientific and helping businesses operate more effectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Data_mining\">Data mining<\/a>&nbsp;is a particular data analysis technique that focuses on statistical modeling and knowledge discovery for predictive rather than purely descriptive purposes, while&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Business_intelligence\">business intelligence<\/a>&nbsp;covers data analysis that relies heavily on aggregation, focusing mainly on business information.&nbsp;In statistical applications, data analysis can be divided into&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Descriptive_statistics\">descriptive statistics<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Exploratory_data_analysis\">exploratory data analysis<\/a>&nbsp;(EDA), and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Statistical_hypothesis_testing\">confirmatory data analysis<\/a>&nbsp;(CDA). EDA focuses on discovering new features in the data while CDA focuses on confirming or falsifying existing&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hypotheses\">hypotheses<\/a>.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Predictive_analytics\">Predictive analytics<\/a>&nbsp;focuses on application of statistical models for predictive forecasting or classification, while&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Text_analytics\">text analytics<\/a>&nbsp;applies statistical, linguistic, and structural techniques to extract and classify information from textual sources, a species of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Unstructured_data\">unstructured data<\/a>.
